Undergrad What does comoving mean and how is it related to isotropy?
In the basic homogeneous and isotopic model of our universe, the universe expands in such a way that over a given period of time all distances increase by the same factor. Note that this expansion only sets in beyond the local group of galaxies, e.g., beyond about a million parsecs or so...- supernova1054

High School The Monty Hall paradox/conundrum
Think of this. Suppose you could pick 2 doors. Your odds are 2/3. That is the same as the host necessarily picking an empty door if you switch doors.- supernova1054

Thanks for your reply. Interesting. Of course I was being facetious about photons point of view. I’m still learning how to use this forum which is quite interesting.- supernova1054

High School Expansion of the Universe and the fourth dimension
What about branes? Is it really inconceivable that our universe is enveloped by a higher dimensional Spacetime? The problem is that we conceive of many strange ideas. Without observational or experimental data these concepts are almost invariably wrong.- supernova1054

High School Expansion of the Universe and the fourth dimension
I taught a course in general relativity and cosmology from 1970 until 2014 and have followed its progress closely. That was always my favorite course. My research was primarily on uv spectroscopy of interacting binary stars Using various spacecraft capabilities.- supernova1054

Undergrad The Physicist & Philosopher: Einstein vs. Bergson Debate
I always ponder on the fact that from a photon’s point of view it is already at its destination when it is emitted and hence never existed! I have no idea what that means if anything.- supernova1054

There are cosmologists and string theorists who would disagree. I know that either way is speculation. We really do not know.- supernova1054
