High School Number of concepts of Multiplication and Addition
But why does addition have far less concepts of what addition is?And why does multiplication have so many concepts or examples better said in real life? I do not see symetry in this. By symetry I mean identical quantity of examples in addition and multiplication. If people invented...- thedy

High School Number of concepts of Multiplication and Addition
Hi,can someone exaplain me,why do we have a few concepts of multiplication, like repeated addition, scaling, grouping etc...but only one concept for addition that means to put something together and make it more or bigger I was solving in past, why multipliplication produce new unit and so on...but...- thedy

Undergrad Multiplication by different units
Hi,thanks for answer, but why does multiplication creates new units, although sometimes there are meaningless, like square apple. But in context of pure math they are correct despite square-apple does not exist. What is the ability of multiplication that make it possible, but by addition not. But...- thedy

Undergrad Multiplication by different units
Hi, well I know that I must be crazy to ask once again, but recently I read one thread here: https://www.physicsforums.com/threads/so-what-is-multiplication.474515/ And it inspired me say opinion, why is creating units for me so un-intuitive. I still think, and make visual analogy like...- thedy

Undergrad Multiplication by different units
Could you explain this a little more.I do not understand.:( And why is addition of two different units nonsense and multiplying not. Like kW hour...We mix two different units as well...- thedy

Undergrad Multiplication by different units
Thanks for answers. Everyone of you are right. Well to be brief,I just would like to know, why all physical laws, relations are described by multiplication and division.I just would like to know what is concept or description of multiplication and division, because I can see, that definitely,it is...- thedy

Undergrad Multiplication by different units
Hi, What does N*m mean? What does N/m mean? What kWh mean? What kW/h mean? What does F=m*a mean? I read maybe all articles on web about concepts of multiplication, units, differences. But respondents only starts with some question(You know, what is dividing, but you do not know what...- thedy

High School Dividing with Units: An Introduction to Math Problem Solving
Thanks I give another example:I noticed, that here on Forums many people advise to guys, that we have to notice if in some problem we have different units or the same. For example if we count something (add together) like F=m+a,we are certainly wrong. It seems from this like Newton unit was derived...- thedy

High School Dividing with Units: An Introduction to Math Problem Solving
Hi gentlemen,I am back with my questions.Yes,you may say, that I am overthinking once again :) So,why do I have problem to imagine what is momentum=mv,or F=ma,or kilowatthour=kilowatt*hour, but I can imagine and explain intuitively what is m^2 or m^3?I checked probably all threads deling with...- thedy

Yes,I understand mi/hr ratio. But I am wondering, why scientists use only multiplication/division to create new units?By what is multiplication/division special?- thedy

High School Dividing with Units: An Introduction to Math Problem Solving
Thanks to all,but still I am confused. For example v=s/t.s/t is unit, but what i get if I divide displacement or length by time? Many ,,small" lengths? or somekind of hybrid small lengthtimes? Thanks- thedy

High School Dividing with Units: An Introduction to Math Problem Solving
Yes,but why 4 m * 5 m = 20 m^2?How did you invite,discover or define m^2? And why new units are defined only by multiplication/division? What is unit?- thedy

High School Dividing with Units: An Introduction to Math Problem Solving
Thanks, but why then for units hold true mathematical properties like multiplication,or division? m*m=m^2...What is it?Which analogy I can use from real life? And what is unit then? Or I can ask otherwise. Why l^3/l=l^2,or l^2/l=l,or l/l=1? l=length- thedy
