Undergrad Determine if the block will slide or flip over after contact
Thanks a lot for your reply! I am sorry that I was busy last week so no reply to you. I followed you suggestion with following assumptions, θ=85°, w=1, h=1, mg=1, μA=μA,k=0.3 and μB,k=0.5. Following your calculation, I got... FA=mgw/2[(sinθ-μAcosθ)h-(cosθ+μAsinθ)w]=0.856... -

Undergrad Determine if the block will slide or flip over after contact
Yes, especially when theta is small. -

Undergrad Determine if the block will slide or flip over after contact
Will the sliding velocity of B steadily increase due to the increasing (magnitude of that) force? This is not what I interest, I only interest on whether C will slide (against B) or flip over first. Or I should say sliding or flip over requested a smaller force on B. -

Undergrad Determine if the block will slide or flip over after contact
How is that increasing force reaching C? --> Friction between B and C Is B sliding under fixed A from left to right? --> Yes, and there is no friction between A and B -

Undergrad Determine if the block will slide or flip over after contact
I have a problem like above. A is fixed, B is fixed in Y direction and C is placed on B. Theta, h, w and m are known input parameters. If an increasing force is applied on B towards -ve x direction, I want to determine whether C is slide or flip over. Before slide or flip happened, I believe I... -

Friction problem of a block sandwiched between 2 surfaces
Thanks a lot! Let me assume some numbers to verify whether I understand you answer correctly. Assume N=1, u1=0.3 and u2=0.5. So the F1 and F2 vs F will be like A plot not B plot. Is it what you mean?- vcl0124

Friction problem of a block sandwiched between 2 surfaces
I don't know how to post a picture so I tried my best to describe my question in words. X is horizontal, Y is vertical and there is no gravity effect. There is a block is sandwiched by 2 surfaces (top surface and bottom surface). Both surfaces are fixed in X direction and the bottom surface is...- vcl0124
