Basic Power Supply: Design & Connections

Hi, I have to build a very basic power supply, basically from a 220V AC Wall socket to a certain DC Voltage as the output. I plan on using a transformer, rectifier, capacitor and a voltage regulator. I can see that following this design it can only give out one value of voltage. I thought of...

Heat Exchange: Ice added to water

Thanks. I get it now. :D Last concern, is the negative temperature acceptable as the final temperature of the mixture? Just so I can clear things out. Haha Thanks again! :D

Heat Exchange: Ice added to water

I tried that, making the equation mcΔt of water + mcΔt of glass +mLf I used this for part a. but i get a negative value,-7.78 degrees is that possible, since i assumed that the ice started from 0 degrees it can't go lower than that can they?

Heat Exchange: Ice added to water

@PeterO So you mean that instead of (mCΔt) of ice for the Qloss, i'll just have to use (mLatent) of ice instead and that only?

Heat Exchange: Ice added to water

Homework Statement A glass containing water is initially of temperature 20oC. The mass of the glass is 100 g and of specific heat 0.16 cal/g-co and water is of mass 200g. If 5 cubes of ice each of mass 15g will be added to the glass of water, solve for (a) The temperature of the mixture. (b)...

Analyzing Torque and Angular Acceleration in a Flywheel Problem

Thanks! I got my english units rambled up, I usually think of pounds as mass, so I was thinking of what the english unit is for force. Nevermind, I understand it now. :D

Analyzing Torque and Angular Acceleration in a Flywheel Problem

    1. Homework Statement A flywheel in the form of a uniform disk (I = ½ MR2) 5.0 ft in diameter, weighs 650 lb. What will be its angular acceleration if a net force of 225 ft-lb acts it upon? If the disk is rotating at 1200 rev/min, what torque is required to stop it in 30 minutes? Homework...

Work Energy Problem Package released to Spring

Homework Statement A 2.00 kg package is released on a 53.1 degree incline, 4.00m from a long spring with force constant 120 N/m that is attached at the bottom of the incline. The coefficients of friction between the package and the incline are u{s} = 0.40 and u{k} = 0.20. The mass of the...

    (Acceleration) Car and Truck Problem

Here's the problem: 1. An automobile and a truck start from rest and at the same instant, with the automobile initially at some distance behind the truck. The truck has a constant acceleration of 2.10 m/s2, and the automobile an acceleration of 3.4 m/s2. The automobile overtakes the truck after...
