What do feral children teach us about the development of IQ? (moved to Discussion)

Thanks for your patience. Judging by the reactions, I really might be missing some cultural thing here. Feels like trespassing some sacred grounds. I kind of understand that N-word is insulting in the US because it was used by slave-owners to refer to slaves. But it's weird that African...

What do feral children teach us about the development of IQ? (moved to Discussion)

Not to start a PC flame, just to clarify: He said that we shouldn't use term 'retard' because it is unspecific, but didn't give a relevant argument why we can't use its replacement intellectual disability in the context of the topic.

What do feral children teach us about the development of IQ? (moved to Discussion)

What is more important for life, to eat or to drink? Both are necessary. And so is in your extreme example of feral children. And totally another question would be about harms of different degrees of malnutrition and degydration. And with IQ development things will be more complicated.

Publishing Physics Without Institution: Any Tips?

In certain countries many high-ranking officials arrange PhD for themselves, and some even boast dozens of publications. I doubt that they themselves would understand those if tried to read. In other countries due to the policy of diversity and such things you can also find poorly educated PhD...

Publishing Physics Without Institution: Any Tips?

Indeed. The more revolutionary one's theory, the more accessible and convinsing the paper has to be. While, on the other hand, independent researchers often work without any feedback and tend to loose the sense of audience. Even if the theory itself is good, it's presentation may be...

I In the many worlds interpretation, how do the worlds join?

The infinity of the universe is just a conjecture, not a proven theory. Of course. This was an example of "Some other interpretation..."

I In the many worlds interpretation, how do the worlds join?

It could be an inifinitely large number that isn't an infinity. And I don't see how it is relevant. >due to the nature of infinity an infinite number of worlds would undergo the process you have mentioned all the time of joining and separating There is no "process" of joining and separating...

I In the many worlds interpretation, how do the worlds join?

    >In the many worlds interpretation, how do the worlds join? By being identical. Think about time reversibility: Forward: One world splits into two that differ only by the spin of the particle. Backward: Two worlds that differ only by the spin of the particle join into one. You may have them...

Publishing Physics Without Institution: Any Tips?

Wow, up to $10K to publish your work.:wideeyed: This I completely don't understand. You've invested a lot of effort into your work and instead of reward, again have to pay for publishing. Well, may be before internet it had sense. But why people keep paying these journals both for publishing and...

Publishing Physics Without Institution: Any Tips?

Sorry, perhaps using word "usually" was incorrect in the context of peer-reviewed journals. This is usual practice for general reader magazines, e.g. http://whopayswriters.com/

Publishing Physics Without Institution: Any Tips?

I'm an independent researcher myself, I feel you. >getting arXiv endorsement There are other preprint servers, which don't require endorsement. You could publish your paper there first and feel safer while looking for endorsement for arXiv. Any endorser would anyway want to take a look at your...

    Intelligence and math abilities improvement

This could be a distraction problem. Something occupies your brains in the new place, like social interactions, girlfriend, job, etc.

I thought it would be fine while introducing oneself, to mention his lifetime work.

Crawled out from my shell with a new tool

Hi! Actually I was registered in PF a dozen years ago as graniar. Lost that account together with the old gmail in stolen phone while traveling in Vietnam. Anyway, wasn't that active here so not a big deal. I always loved physics and engineering but worked mostly as a software engineer in...
