Should I get a masters in geology?

It's a good field, especially if you live somewhere like Alberta. Salary can be fairly high... I know a guy that got his BSc. in Geology from the University of Alberta, and started at 66k/year, and is up to 85k after 3 years. He's supposed to be up to 100k soon. He's working in the oil...

Engineering Physics: Career Prospects & Problem Solving

Yeah, I'm going into engineering physics because it's excellent to have for grad school, not because I want to be an actual engineering physicist.

Engineering Physics: Career Prospects & Problem Solving

I'm also applying this year for the U of A. Hope to see you there... they only accept about 25 people, heh.

Schools Which US Universities Offer Top Undergraduate Aerospace Engineering Programs?

Alberta's a good choice... Most consider U of Alberta the 2nd best Engg. school in Canada, next to Waterloo, with Toronto closely trailing. I've also heard of Alberta being ranked about 7th in North America... with places like MIT, Caltech, Stanford, and Waterloo ahead of it. So there's my...

Engineering Physics: Career Prospects & Problem Solving

Hi, Does anyone know anything about career prospects and what-not in engineering physics? I've heard that it's the hardest engineering, and that Engineering Physicists are "highly trained problem solvers." I'm considering it as a professions. Anyone know anything about it? Thanks.

How Long Will It Take a Space Tug to Pull an Asteroid?

Ok you guys: I think for the tug that it's like a fishing reel. But if that's the case, wouldn't both masses undergo a force of 490 N? Then Newton's 3rd law would come into play, and they would both move at the same time. So I can probably get this one. I know how to do the second one...

How Long Will It Take a Space Tug to Pull an Asteroid?

So if it's pulling it, wouldn't it be moving at the same speed as the asteroid? If so, how would the asteroid then ever catch up to it? I'm assuming that it's pulling it with a string since it said line... but it's probably with some other mechanism. I'm probably making it harder than it is...

How Long Will It Take a Space Tug to Pull an Asteroid?

Physics assignment due tomorrow morning... a few questions. 1. At a time when mining asteroids has become feasible, astronauts have connected a line between their 3500kg space tug and a 6200kg asteroid. Using their ship's engine, they pull on the asteroid with a force of 490N. Initially the...
