How should I place three objects for e.g three pencils so that no shadow is formed for them throughout the day(light source:sunlight to be considered)??
The discussion revolves around the placement of three objects, specifically pencils, to avoid the formation of shadows throughout the day when illuminated by sunlight. The scope includes theoretical considerations and practical implications of light reflection and shadow formation.
Participants generally disagree on the feasibility of eliminating shadows with the proposed methods. Multiple competing views remain regarding the use of direct sunlight, reflections, and the practicality of using mirrors.
Limitations include the assumptions about the environment (e.g., outdoor conditions), the nature of the objects (pencils vs. mirrors), and the effects of sunlight movement throughout the day.
This discussion may be of interest to those exploring concepts of light, shadow, and reflection in physics, as well as individuals curious about practical applications of these principles in everyday scenarios.

A.T. said:In the shadow of a larger object.
Drakkith said:Off the top of my head I'd say make sure they point exactly at the sun. However, since the sun moves over the course of the day I can't see any way to make three stationary pencils create no shadow.
jaeson said:What I was thinking was of an orientation in which light reflected from one object fall over the shadow of second object. Is it possible?
Drakkith said:No. You might be able to accomplish something in a controlled lab environment using mirrors and such, but not with just a couple of pencils.
jaeson said:Why not? 2nd pencil will reflect light and if i can make the light pass through shadow of 1st pencil the shadow will not form.
Drakkith said:A pencil is not reflective enough to do this.
jaeson said:ok let us consider mirrors now how could it be done.
