Discussion Overview

The discussion revolves around troubleshooting missing menu options in ANSYS while following a truss tutorial. Participants explore potential reasons for the absence of the "List Results" option in the General Post-Proc menu, focusing on the software's functionality and requirements.

Discussion Character

  • Technical explanation, Homework-related

Main Points Raised

  • One participant reports that the "List Results" option is missing after navigating through the expected menu paths.
  • Another participant suggests checking the "Read Results" option as an alternative to access the desired information.
  • A third participant questions whether an element table needs to be established for the results to appear.
  • A different participant asserts that an element table is not necessary and mentions the importance of checking element properties, particularly for Beam3 elements, which may require additional output settings.
  • One participant confirms that they were able to resolve the issue after receiving assistance.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants do not reach a consensus on whether an element table is required, as some suggest it is not necessary while others question its relevance. The discussion remains unresolved regarding the specific requirements for accessing the "List Results" option.

Contextual Notes

Limitations: The discussion does not clarify the specific version of ANSYS being used or the exact steps taken prior to encountering the issue, which may affect the applicability of the advice given.

ANSYS help--missing main menu options

I am trying to make my way through a truss tutorial in ANSYS, but when I go to General Post-Proc>List Results>Reaction Solution, there is no List Results option in the menu.

I've double checked and have definitely gone through the Solution>Solve>Current LS step.

Thanks for any help or advice!

Have you read the results> Read Results>Last Step

Thanks

For that do you need to have an element table established? It's been a while.

No, you don't need to have an element table. I am assuming you that you are using Beam3 elements to represent the truss geometry. Check the element properties, some of the elements require you to set them to include additional output properties. I check my ANSYS version 10 and didn't have any problems.

Thanks
Matt

Thanks for your help! Got it to work.
