SUMMARY

A 14-year-old student is excelling in mathematics at ANU (Australian National University) and aspires to specialize in Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, and English. Currently studying physics independently through Khan Academy and Stephen Hawking's literature, the student plans to dedicate significant time daily to these subjects. The ultimate goal is to pursue a Bachelor's in Physics at ANU, followed by a Master's and PhD at Cambridge, aiming for a career as an Astrophysicist. The discussion emphasizes the importance of maintaining a healthy study-life balance to avoid burnout.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of advanced mathematics concepts
  • Familiarity with physics fundamentals
  • Knowledge of study techniques for effective learning
  • Awareness of academic pathways in higher education
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the curriculum for Double Specialist Mathematics at ANU
  • Explore advanced physics topics through Khan Academy
  • Investigate study strategies to prevent burnout
  • Learn about the application process for postgraduate studies at Cambridge
USEFUL FOR

I'm 14 years old and in the highest mathematics class in year 9 and one of the top 10 students (in mathematics), studying at ANU (Australian National University) every Friday (I was invited to go since I had good marks).

We don't learn physics yet, but we will next term. I've been studying physics now as a hobby for around 12 months now, being taught through Khan Academy and Stephen Hawking books (I find him hard to understand sometimes, might be his way of explaining or I'm not that deep in physics just yet).

I want to go to College, study Double Specialist Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, English, and do my every-Friday studying at ANU (Australian National University). I will be studying for at least two hours every day (not during school-time) at the library for mathematics, and around 2 more hours on physics and chemistry, English will be my least important, but I will try and go well in the subject.

I want to then go to ANU as a under grad for a bachelors in Physics, then go off to Cambridge as a post grad for a Masters and PhD in physics.

Soon work where ever as an Astrophysicist (maybe theoretical but I'm not high in IQ),
so I'm just wondering if this is an ideal thing for me to do. I don't want to do anything else, I love studying mathematics and physics, and I can't imagine doing anything else.

Just keep doing what you're doing, sounds like you're not doing anything unhealthy. The worst thing you can do is study so much and put so much pressure on yourself that you burn out and are left with nothing. Just keep up the good work.

Also, forget the non-sense about IQs. People who care about IQs are the ones who know nothing about them.
