Not to dampen your enthusiasm but a heat gun, plain old weller soldering iron with the tips that determine the temperature, and solder wick have always worked for me. If I wanted it fast I used a pneumatic desoldering iron. It arrived today.
Well...it works OK I guess but after using it for a bit it is not a brand I would recommend. I need a spare in any event. The hot air puts out a lot of heat. I have not used the de-solder gun yet bet it looks pretty micky mouse.

I have a machine shop so I will wind up building one...like most things...if you want good stuff, build it yourself.
