Hi,
I have notice that Ashcroft, Mermin and Wei worked at a revised edition of the original solid state physics book (here). The book, however, seems to be never available. I have also read that the reason is related to some disputes related to copyright. Do you have any further information about it? Did you have the opportunity to get your hands on this revised edition? I am really curious about it, also considering that I am planning to buy the book in the near future...

Thanks!

I don't know if this will help much but looking at the listing it seems like it's being sold via amazon KDP (print on demand, and it's "published" by Kindle Direct Publishing) so there's a good chance that amazon is the only place you'll be able to buy it*.

That being said, so you know what is new about the revised edition? If there aren't many differences then maybe go for the original book (assuming that is still available) (it is available online in many places) or consider alternatives (I'm sure there are lots of PF members that would be willing to help out).

* first hand. But assuming that it's a new book I doubt there will be many people selling it second hand... already... right?

All I know about the differences with respect to the original version is what you can see in the picture of the back cover here.

being a ~40 year old student is really harsh with those prices of books just keep escalating.

Honestly taking a look at it I would argue it's much more worth your time and your money to worry less about the revised edition and find a cheap second-hand copy of the original edition instead.
