SUMMARY

The discussion focuses on transitioning from structural analysis to the field of acoustics, specifically sound waves and their applications. Participants emphasize the importance of defining specific interests within acoustics, such as acoustic theory, speaker design, horn technology, driver design, wave propagation, and harmonics. The conversation encourages asking targeted questions in forums to receive quality responses, highlighting the relationship between question quality and answer quality.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of basic acoustic theory
  • Familiarity with audio speaker design principles
  • Knowledge of wave propagation concepts
  • Awareness of horn technology and driver design
NEXT STEPS
  • Research acoustic theory and its applications in audio engineering
  • Explore resources on speaker design and fabrication techniques
  • Learn about horn technology and its impact on sound quality
  • Investigate wave propagation and harmonics in acoustics
USEFUL FOR

Acoustic engineers, audio designers, students of sound engineering, and anyone interested in the principles of sound waves and their applications in technology.

Hi All,
i have been mostly into the structural analysis domain ...now want to explore the world of sound waves/Acoustics. What should be the best way to start with?

It's a pretty broad area. Can you say what applications you are most interested in?

I didn't see a reply here, from over 4 years ago. But I'd like to answer. I am new as well and would to learn about acoustic theory as applied to the design an fabrication of audio speakers. I am interested in horn technology, driver design, wave propagation, harmonics, reflected sound to name a few. If I may, when a more specific question comes to mind, I would like it very much if I could ask it. I understand too, the quality of the answer, is largely determine the by quality of the question. I will do my very best.

Welcome to PF.

Yes, by all means, as you have questions, go ahead and post them as new threads in the appropriate forum and link to the reading you have been doing. You should get good replies here.
