AI Thread Summary
Boston Dynamics' quadrupedal robot Spot has gained the ability to converse with humans, sparking discussions about its capabilities and potential limitations. The conversation included playful inquiries about Spot's ability to dance, highlighting a curiosity about the robot's interactive features. Observations were made about Spot's behavior during demonstrations, particularly when it appeared distracted and deviated from its intended tasks. A notable moment occurred when Spot responded to a question about its "parents" by approaching an exhibit of its predecessor, Spot V1, raising questions about its understanding of lineage and self-awareness. This behavior suggests that Spot's responses may be influenced by its training data rather than genuine comprehension. The discussion reflects on the nature of AI responses, drawing parallels to human behavior where reactions can occur without conscious thought, emphasizing the complexity of interpreting AI interactions.

But then he got distracted form showing us the recharging station. Maybe Spot has ADHD.

Did you notice at 5:48 the narrator asks Spot if it "could show us its parents?" whereupon Spot went over to the exhibit of Spot V1. It was not programmed to do that! Did it "know" that it was an earlier version of itself? I don't think so but probably encoded in its training data a connection was established between parent, progenitor, previous version, prototype, and its visual memory.

Although we poopoo a lot of this type of behavior in AI don't we all often react to questions without what we term as "thinking"? In this case we usually have the advantage of being told who our parents are.

Well, the date has now passed, and Windows 10 is no longer supported. Hopefully, the readers of this forum have done one of the many ways this issue can be handled. If not, do a YouTube search and a smorgasbord of solutions will be returned. What I want to mention is that I chose to use a debloated Windows from a debloater. There are many available options, e.g., Chris Titus Utilities (I used a product called Velotic, which also features AI to prevent your computer from overheating etc...
I have been idly browsing what Apple have to offer with their new iPhone17. There is mention of 'Vapour cooling' to deal with the heat generated. Would that be the same sort of idea that was used in 'Heat Pipes' where water evaporated at the processor end and liquid water was returned from the cool end and back along a wick. At the extreme high power end, Vapour Phase Cooling has been used in multi-kW RF transmitters where (pure) water was pumped to the Anode / or alternative Collector and...
