My thesis supervisor usually just hands out a paper to read and to fish for the resources and all the rest of the details for myself.

Is this a good thing or a bad thing?

Why do you think it was good for you? What did it help you learn, if I may ask?

It helped me to rely more on myself. This is a crucial skill to learn wherever you go. Let's say you're doing grad research, then your supervisor won't be there all the time to hold your hand. Quite the opposite: he'll give you some reading material and you need to absorb that on your own. This kind of bachelor thesis helps with this.

Was your bachelor thesis supervisor available any time to answer questions?

I tend to solve most of the problems in my thesis by myself using these kinds of forums, and only present a finished weekly output of work by email.

How often should a good thesis supervision have student-supervisor interaction?
