Guppies, algae eaters, and albino corys can tolerate some salt in their water, which can be beneficial for reducing stress and promoting healthy gill function. However, it's essential to use aquarium salt rather than table salt (NaCl), as table salt can contain chlorine and lacks the necessary minerals for proper aquatic conditions. Each fish species has varying tolerances to salt, so it's crucial to research appropriate salt concentrations for each type. Overuse of salt can be harmful, so moderation is key.

Some salt is actually beneficial, but don't go dumping in table salt. Goto a pet store and find some aquarium salt. I have some in a small box. It helps reduce stress and promotes heathly gill function. Just don't put too much in, different fish have different tolerances.

Why no NaCl?

Chlorine can be toxic to fish.

salt tolerance: there is a range of tolerable salt concentrations for those species (you'll have to do the research...or some other helpful member )

no NaCl: true saltwater is more than just H2O + NaCl...you wouldn't be simulating the proper natural conditions with just table salt

Is it a virus that can make it's own proteins; or a cell that lacks ability to metabolize. Newly discovered 2024 Specific Characteristics of Sukunaarchaeum Mirabile • Smallest Archaeal Genome: This microorganism has about 283,000 base pairs. This is far smaller than typical archaea. Such extreme reduction strips away most metabolic genes while still keeping essential ones. • Extreme Dependency: It cannot perform its own metabolism. This means it must borrow almost everything from its host...
