SUMMARY

The forum discussion revolves around a reimagined version of the classic game Rock, Paper, Scissors, where participants propose objects that "beat" the previous object in a creative and logical manner. Specific rules are established to maintain the integrity of the game, including prohibitions against time travel, the use of fictional objects, and repeating previously used items. The conversation showcases a variety of imaginative responses, such as "Thermite burns computer" and "Gamma ray bursts kill all life on Earth," while also addressing the complexities and paradoxes that arise from the game's rules.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of logical reasoning and sequential argumentation
  • Familiarity with basic chemistry concepts (e.g., thermite reactions, acid-base neutralization)
  • Knowledge of game theory principles and strategy
  • Ability to follow and contribute to structured discussions in online forums
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the principles of game theory and its applications in competitive scenarios
  • Explore chemical reactions relevant to the objects mentioned, such as thermite and acid-base reactions
  • Investigate the history and variations of Rock, Paper, Scissors and similar games
  • Learn about the impact of rules on gameplay dynamics and player strategy
USEFUL FOR

This discussion is beneficial for game designers, educators in logic and reasoning, and enthusiasts of creative problem-solving who enjoy exploring unconventional game mechanics.

Hm. A little late to disqualify some things now...

Technically, post 87:
"...Tripping office worker assigned to shred Kyoto Accord results in his tie being sucked into paper shredder. Office worker gets bloody nose, strained neck, and the paper shredder is inoperable..."
violates rule b] :
"...no people or actions..."
but that was 10 pages ago!

The next one I found was post #110:
"...Basilisk outstares the paltry HEL rays..."
which violates rule c] :
"...no fictional objects or half-baked theoretical objects..."
(Ok, I'm not deliberately picking on Arildno).

If I wanted to be a strict hard-ass, I could keep yanking it back into line, but I think that might actually knock the fun out of it.

So I guess this thread continues on its slow progress towards silliness...

I think this rule should be changed to allow mythical objects and organisms.
