There's nothing warped about it from where I'm sitting; it must be you. Maybe you're panting too close to the monitor again.

I haven't put the sticky guru threads up yet, sorry, I need to remove a few stickies to make room and want to put everyone's thread up at the same time.

Hold onto your posts, I promise stickies will appear tomorrow!

I think Danger or tribdog is it hands down. We all know that. Danger has been around since last time more than tribdog so I think he'll win 'er.

Ok ok ok joke time... I just made this one up.

That's even funnier than this:

Dammit Evo, you better talk to me. you are quick to delete my posts so I know you are there and I know you know me well enough to know I don't do well to being ignored.
I understand mentors aren't supposed to show favorites, but no one expects that in here. Everyone knows you are my favorite and how could I not be yours?
all I'm asking for is a little hearty eyes or a big tooth. I'm easily satisfied

Just for that, I nominate you for the sticky guru award. (Yes, I'm still waiting on that groan smiley I've been asking for all year...maybe I'll finally get it for Christmas? Huh, Greg? Huh? Huh? :-p)

  • #162
How bad that members can't submit their nimination! :frown: I wanted to nominate people that I'm sure the mentors wouldn't think of them at all! :-p(You can't guess who they are, can you?)

Yeah, we were promised that groan smiley with the upgrade. I think it's time for an uprising.

(...ugh, and no, not that kind of uprising. Some of you are so twisted. tsk, tsk.)

I don't know if this has been asked in this thread (I'm too lazy to read through 11 pages worth posts). But how many kinds of guru awards do we have?

Yes, that is the problem with tribdog and Danger both being absent so much of the year...
I don't think it would be important at all. Sorry but I have to say it again:
"Quality is more important than quantity."
1 good joke's worth more than bunch of not-so-funny jokes.(Yeah, some jokes really make me laugh whenever I remember them.) On the other hand I think that would be a clever idea for funny member(or people) to disappear for a period of time, because after awhile people get used to their jokes and they don't make them laugh anymore.

BUT this post of me doesn't mean that I'm going to vote Danger or
tribdog!o:) Since there are lots of funny member around here that I can't choose btw them, I'm going to vote a person who's more serious than the others. (At least a serious person with the funniest member ribbon looks funny anyway. Let's give serious people a chance of being funny for 1 time!:-p  )

One of the Guru criteria this year is that a nominee must have participated in the forum in which the ribbon is being given for at least 2/3 to 3/4 of the year. So, we're talking 8-9 months of solid participation in order to qualify.

  • #168
Does my "thread killer champions" thread count as continuous participation?
no wonder you aren't talking to me. I wouldn't want to tell me that either. Post count isn't a criteria huh? Nearly 1000 posts, the incumbency and actually being the funniest isn't enough? Maybe I'm jumping the gun here, but the pink ribbon is the only thing that got me through these past few months. The chemo, the rehabilitation, the skin grafts, only the thought of the pink ribbon brought me any relief. The thought of not even being allowed to defend my title is probably too much to bear. Especially with all those surguries coming up. You do what you think is right and go ahead and make up new criteria without notice. If you don't think I deserve to be considered for a second term I must bow to your decision. Do me a favor and don't tell my doctors anything about this, they said I needed the right frame of mind if I was to stand any chance of survival, I'll try faking a smile when I see them.

It's not so much quantity as consistency. If our court jester just runs off for 6 months, where does that leave us? We end up grouchy, and have to issue lots of warnings, and ban people. It just isn't good for PF. We need someone who's reliably funny. (And yes, the 8-9 months of posting was an agreed upon criterion...there's always next year).

  • #170
How about an option for a write-in candidate?

  • #171
I was part of PF before you got your first training habit, so I don't want to be told what is good for PF. I was here 5 skins ago and I've been here for every one since and I've ALWAYS put PF and the PF family at the top of my list.
I didn't realize the award was for Most reliably funny member. Why vote at all? why not just call it a Perfect Attendence award. I hear the Nobel is going to go to the same system, no more awards based on brilliance. mediocrity and punctuality are the new standards.
I know there is always next year. I'll be here, I've been here every year since the doors opened. I'll be here and I'll be funny. Once this little rant of mine is done I won't say another word about it and I'll go back to being the funniest member at PF, just like I always do. I'll go back to over reacting to any perceived slight on anything PF related and I'll go back to having fun while I'm here. I just won't go back to being told I'm bad for PF, and that isn't an attack on your mentorship or motives, it's directed towards making my own motives known. I only want what is best for PF and obviously what's best for PF is me. and if I could just get you freakin' newbies to accept that as fact things could get back to normal.
ps just because I ended with a joke doesn't mean I don't think this is a bunch of bulls't.

AHA! So you *did* just return to try to regain your title.

Do you realize that none of the new members for most of the year even knew there was a "funniest member" because you disappeared? BAAAD DOG!

I don't think last year's winners should be eligible to run again, spread the love, let others have a chance to win.

no, actually I came back because I finally got out of a rotten situation and was feeling happy for the first time in a long time and when I'm happy I think of PF and this is where I wanted to be. I wanted to be around you. I was happy and sharing my good feelings with you makes me feel even better. I said "I wasn't going to run for a second ribbon.i" (although I didn't know I didn't get to keep the first one) if it was going to cause a problem.
but no, it wouldn't be a problem and quite a few people said it was between me and Danger and I started thinking about winning again and I started getting excited about it, and you could have said something about your decision a long time ago.
I'll forget everything if you tell me you love me and give me your phone number.

also, I don't think previous winners should be disqualified. I think the best should win as long as they are the best.

Ever heard of Lance Armstrong? Ever heard of the guy who won the first Tour de France?

poor old tribdog, i won't comment on who deserves the funniest member award but he certainly deserves a shoulder to cry on.

Lance Armstrong won an unprecedented 7th Tour de France, and did so consecutively from 1999 to 2005.

But to win one has to enter the contest and participate.

Incidentally, the winner of the first Tour de France was Maurice GARIN in 1903.

I should probably clarify one thing here. I'm not in fact attempting to win anything. If an opportunity for a humourous comment presents itself, I'll take my best shot at it, but I don't actively go out of my way to be funny. The ribbon should probably go to someone who is more dedicated to it.

  • #183
Looks like Danger doesn't want it, and tribdog can't compete because of some silly rule, so I guess we might as well not even have one!

I still think we should get the option of a write-in, and also a none of the above

I agree with this. Sometimes I do go a little out of my way to be funny...okay, writing a bunch of song lyrics to tease a guy complaining about getting too much sex, writing hundreds of posts in the The Thread Killer Champions thread, posting a bunch of captions for photos... okay I often go out of my way, but it is because I like the be humorous. I don't care if I win anything or not. However, it is an honor to be nominated.

and it shows, but that's beside the point.
I don't go out of my way to be funny either.PF is my home page so it really isn't out of my way. I do think of myself as the comedian of PF and I get a lot of comments and emails telling me how funny I am which may have gone to my head, but I've been this way for a long time and Losing the ribbon is like losing my job. I suppose I'll learn to live without the ribbon, and if Greg wants to make me a Comedy Mentor that would be fine too and would probably aid in my recovery

Have you noticed that mentors' titles are 'PF mentor' sometimes but then it changed to 'Super mentor' again!:bugeye: At first I thought we were going to have 'mentors' and 'super mentors'. I mean kind of promotion for mentors!

For a long time I thought "You're funny" is a kind of insult!:-p I still can't understand why some people around here want to have "the funniest member" ribbon.:-p It would be a lot better, if they changed it to "the wittiest member" or "the most humorist member".

I'm not even sure what the final list is. If you didn't make it on the list this year, it was probably extremely close, that's all I can say. Moonbear and I are so proud of everyone here.

P.S. That extra pound of chocolate could have made the difference.
