SUMMARY

The discussion centers on the collection and study of MCU-5 (Monte Carlo Universal) input files for various applications, including reactors and experiments. Participants recommend the book "Radiation Problems: From Analytical to Monte Carlo Solutions" for its comprehensive examples, although it primarily covers MCNP code rather than MCU input files. The distinction between MCU and MCNP is emphasized, highlighting the need for specific MCU input files for domain-specific applications. The conversation also touches on the legality of sharing copyrighted materials in the forum.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of MCU-5 (Monte Carlo Universal) input file structure
  • Familiarity with MCNP (Monte Carlo N-Particle Transport Code)
  • Knowledge of radiation problem-solving techniques
  • Awareness of copyright laws regarding digital content sharing
NEXT STEPS
  • Research MCU-5 input file configurations and examples
  • Explore MCNP code applications and differences from MCU
  • Study radiation problem-solving methodologies in depth
  • Investigate copyright regulations for sharing educational materials online
USEFUL FOR

Researchers, nuclear engineers, and students interested in Monte Carlo simulations, particularly those focusing on MCU-5 applications and input file configurations.

TL;DR
Hi everyone! I have been learning MCU (Monte Carlo Universal), a Russian version of MCNP and am collecting input files to learn off of. The more complex the better. Or if anyone knows of a library of input files sitting around somewhere I'd love to know about it. Thank you!
I am working with MCU-5, and would love to study input files for diverse settings. Whether for reactors, experiments, or novel uses. It is all interesting to me. I am also open to hearing about your own experience with MCU and the times you feel you've extracted value from it.

Hi DAntanov.

The book "Radiation Problems: From Analytical to Monte Carlo Solutions" has many examples, from the simplest to the most complex. I recommend reading it, you can learn a lot. I don't know if I can upload books in PDF format here, but if a moderator allows it, I can upload them.

Thank you for the recommendation. However it seems that this book only contains MCNP code (am I wrong?). MCU input files, while having similar proper/function, are a different configuration/domain-specific language. I am looking for MCU input files specifically.

Not if it's a copyrighted work; that would be illegal and not allowed here. Thanks for asking.
