I see a lot of memes and I am fascinated with how they are built.
A joke can be told in a million ways; some produce so-so humour, some are brilliantly witty. Here is an example:
That comment from the poster is what makes this meme. A less talented writer might have posted something lame, like "What? Only four stars??"
So...
...I sometimes I find myself with the ingredients for a joke, and try to resist the urge to go with the first iteration of it, in case a better one come along.
I'm going throw this one out and see what comes back. Here is the straightforward, not very clever rendition. It has three ingredients.
Illustration :
1. People at a party, all of them dressed like this:
2. One guy at the door, fighting for his life, with this wrapped around him:
3. Caption:
One of the people at the party saying to another:
"I told hib what the dress code was, but I have a cold in by dose."
Too subtle? Too lame? Can it be rewritten to be cleverer?
