Converting axial pressure to centripetal force

Click For Summary

Discussion Overview

The discussion revolves around the conversion of axial pressure from a spring force applied at the center of a wheel into centripetal force. Participants are exploring the mechanics of a system where a motor pulls the wheel with a rope, and the role of the spring in this setup.

Discussion Character

  • Exploratory
  • Technical explanation

Main Points Raised

  • One participant describes a scenario where a spring force is applied to the center of a wheel, which is then pulled by a motor using a rope.
  • Another participant expresses confusion regarding the configuration of the wheel and the spring, requesting a diagram for clarification.
  • A third participant notes that the spring applies a load that acts to prevent the wheel from rotating, similar to a brake, while the motor pulls the wheel forward.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants have not reached a consensus on the mechanics of the setup, and there is a lack of clarity regarding the configuration and the relationship between the spring force and centripetal force.

I am working on a case where a spring foce is applied to the center of wheel . the wheel is pulled by a motor with a rope tied on the wheel.

I know the spring force in the centere of the wheel.
how can i know the centripetla force exerted by it

I do not understand how you drive the wheel or how the spring is mounted.
Can you please provide a diagram of the setup.

The Spring applies some load to prevent the wheel from rotating lie a brake
Motor pulls the wheel in front direction.
