Creating a Solenoid Gun: Overcoming Midway Stoppage

hi Guys,
i am creating a solenoid gun, but my problem is that when i put my magnetized needle in the solenoid , it just stops in the midway , is there any way that my needle pass through the solenoid without stoping ( with a good speed )
i really need your help

You'd need to pulse it on and off.

Try it with an unmagnetized needle of soft iron.
