Discussion Overview

The discussion centers around the creation of a holographic projecting lens, with participants exploring ideas and procedures related to this concept. The conversation evolves into a focus on recreating Google Glass, with questions about the terminology and technology involved.

Discussion Character

  • Exploratory, Conceptual clarification, Debate/contested

Main Points Raised

  • One participant inquires about the requirements for creating a holographic projecting lens and requests ideas and procedures.
  • Another participant asks for clarification on what a holographic projecting lens is and its intended purpose.
  • A participant simplifies the question to focus on recreating Google Glass, expressing a desire to do so independently.
  • There is a repeated inquiry about the holographic aspect of Google Glass, suggesting confusion over terminology.
  • One participant asserts that Google Glass does not utilize a holographic lens and provides a definition of holography, emphasizing that it involves a photographic recording of a light field.
  • This participant also mentions the availability of online guides for creating a homemade version of Google Glass.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants do not reach a consensus on the definition and application of a holographic projecting lens, with some expressing confusion over the terminology and others clarifying it. The discussion remains unresolved regarding the specific requirements for creating such a lens.

Contextual Notes

There are potential misunderstandings regarding the definitions of holography and the technology used in Google Glass, which may affect the clarity of the discussion.

What would it take to create a Holographic projecting lens? Ideas and Procedures are appreciated.
Thank you.

What's a holographic projecting lens? For what purpose are you hoping to use said lens?

Okay I'll use simpler terms.
What would it take to recreate Google glasses? Alone.

What's holographic about google glasses?

Google Glass doesn't use a "holographic lens," I think you may be misinterpreting the meaning of the term. Take a look here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holography

Wikipedia.org said:
Typically, a hologram is a photographic recording of a light field, rather than of an image formed by a lens, and it is used to display a fully three-dimensional image of the holographed subject, which is seen without the aid of special glasses or other intermediate optics.

The good news is, there are step-by-step guides online for creating a home-made version of Google Glass, see here: Instructables: DIY Homemade Google Glass

Oh thanks a lot... Much appreciated
