Design calculations for my hybrid e-cycle

Click For Summary
SUMMARY

The discussion focuses on the design calculations for a hybrid e-cycle, specifically addressing the motor and battery power requirements. Key specifications include a maximum speed of at least 40 km/h, a gross weight of 120 kg, and a minimum range of 30 km. Participants emphasize the need for additional specifications such as gear ratios and gear diameters to accurately estimate power requirements.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of electric motor specifications
  • Knowledge of battery capacity and energy density
  • Familiarity with gear ratios and their impact on performance
  • Basic principles of vehicle dynamics
NEXT STEPS
  • Research electric motor power calculations for e-cycles
  • Explore battery selection criteria for hybrid vehicles
  • Learn about gear ratio optimization for electric bicycles
  • Investigate vehicle weight distribution effects on performance
USEFUL FOR

Engineers, e-cycle designers, and hobbyists interested in optimizing hybrid vehicle performance and power requirements.

i'm in the conceptual design stage of my e-cycle.

my tech reqs :

1. it should have a max speed of atleast 40 kmph.

2. gross weight = 120 kg

3. min range 30 km.

Please help me with the following design question.

how to estimate the motor & battery power requirements ?

You need more specifications and assumptions. I'm not the best with cars so I can't point you to additional parameters with confidence.

How many gears? What are the gear ratios and gear diameters?
