SUMMARY

The discussion centers on the effect of buoyancy on the weight of a beaker submerged in a fluid. Participants clarify that buoyancy does not reduce the weight of the beaker; instead, it creates an upward force that counteracts the weight of the beaker in the fluid. The beaker remains at its original weight regardless of buoyancy, while the force experienced by the string attached to the beaker changes based on the fluid's density. The right beaker, when submerged, experiences a downward force due to gravity, confirming common understanding.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of Archimedes' Principle
  • Basic knowledge of forces and weight in physics

Hi guys, I have been wrecking my brains thinking bout this for quite some time, so I decided to get some help here :D . Please check the diagram in the link below:

Ok so, can someone explains what happens to the beaker on the left? Would it get lighter as a result of upwards pull on the string from the buoyancy? I got some answers saying no but there weren't any satisfactory explanations.
And the right one goes down right? I mean its kind of common sense for that one but check the comments and notice how the world is full of idiots.
Thanks!
