Discussion Overview

The discussion revolves around the consumption of cleaning agents, specifically a product called Fabuloso, which some individuals have mistakenly ingested, believing it to be a beverage. Participants explore the implications of labeling, packaging, and consumer awareness regarding cleaning products.

Discussion Character

  • Debate/contested
  • Exploratory
  • Conceptual clarification

Main Points Raised

  • Some participants express disbelief that anyone would drink a cleaning product without reading the label, questioning the decision-making of those who do.
  • There are anecdotes shared about accidental consumption, including a case where a mother mistook the product for grape juice due to its packaging.
  • Concerns are raised about the product's labeling, with some participants noting that it is marketed differently in various regions, leading to confusion.
  • Some participants suggest that the product's appearance and scent could mislead consumers into thinking it is safe to drink.
  • There is speculation about whether the product contains alcohol, with references to alcoholics consuming cleaning products.
  • Participants discuss the implications of product placement in stores, particularly regarding the visibility of cleaning products in relation to beverages.
  • Some express frustration at the idea of legal action against manufacturers, suggesting that individuals should take responsibility for their choices.
  • There are humorous remarks about the product's unusual color and scent, with some joking about its ingredients.
  • Several participants mention the potential for confusion due to similar packaging between cleaning products and beverages.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants generally do not agree on the reasons behind the consumption of cleaning agents. While some believe it is due to negligence or stupidity, others point to issues with labeling and packaging that could lead to accidental ingestion. The discussion remains unresolved regarding the responsibility of consumers versus manufacturers.

Contextual Notes

There are references to different labeling practices in various markets, which may contribute to misunderstandings about the product's intended use. The discussion highlights the complexity of consumer behavior and product marketing without reaching a consensus on the root causes of the issue.

Does it have alcohol in it? I've heard of alcoholics carrying lysol bottles around and drinking from them.

Are you sure it's Lysol and not Listerine? Alcoholics have been know to drink plenty of mouthwash to get 'drunk'...

It looked like milk, and it was in the refrigerator, and the container was like a plastic milk container, but from there, I don't know what it was.
Horchata: Mexican Rice Milk

You can buy it out of a cooler here at any Mexican restaurant, and some stores have it in plastic bottles.

This reminds me... Some one from Canada once told me that the Mountain Dew they sell there doesn't have caffiene in it. It was apparently decided that a person buying a clear colour soda should be able to reasonably assume that it does not contain caffiene.

How stupid. Doesn't its place next to 30 other caffeinated drinks kind of give it away? I mean every other drink that doesn't have caffeine has "CAFFEINE FREE" printed in a very noticable way.

Catfish Bait - Zote Laundry Soap Bar - Pink 14 oz

Ideal for Catfish bait. Fishing recipe: cut a bar of Zote soap into 5 or 8 chunks, it also works well for cat fishing, then you also have hand cleaner. Works well. Tight Lines...Zote Soap

Wait, we have a problem with eutrophication of water-courses with detergents, and they respond by inventing this!
