SUMMARY

The discussion centers on the energy dynamics involved in bringing two magnets together, specifically when their poles are the same. It concludes that the orientation—whether vertical or horizontal—does not affect the energy required to bring the magnets together or separate them. This principle is rooted in the conservation of energy, which dictates that the energy used remains constant regardless of the method of approach. For further understanding, the concept of conservative forces is highlighted as a key reference.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of magnetic poles and their interactions
  • Basic knowledge of energy conservation principles
  • Familiarity with conservative forces in physics
  • Ability to interpret scientific literature, such as Wikipedia articles
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the principles of conservative forces in physics
  • Explore the concept of magnetic fields and their effects on energy
  • Study the mathematical formulations of energy conservation
  • Investigate practical applications of magnetism in engineering
USEFUL FOR

Physics students, educators, and anyone interested in the principles of magnetism and energy conservation will benefit from this discussion.

If you want 2 magnets to touch when the poles are the same

. Would it matter how you do it,moving them vertically

towards each other or horizontally?

Does it mater how you get them together and separate them?
Would it use the same energy to join them horizontally as they would make repealing each other vertically?

It does not matter. This is easy to see via conservation of energy.
