SUMMARY

This discussion focuses on identifying examples of products subjected to various forces, specifically tension, compression, shear, and torsion. Key examples include cables for tension, columns and brick walls for compression, bolts for shear, and shafts or screws for torsion. The conversation emphasizes the importance of understanding these forces in engineering and physics applications. Participants are encouraged to attempt the homework before seeking further assistance.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of basic physics concepts related to forces
  • Familiarity with engineering materials and their properties
  • Knowledge of structural mechanics
  • Ability to analyze force diagrams
NEXT STEPS
  • Research examples of tension in civil engineering applications
  • Explore the role of compression in architectural design
  • Study shear force calculations in mechanical engineering
  • Learn about torsion effects in rotating machinery
USEFUL FOR

Students studying physics or engineering, educators looking for teaching resources, and professionals involved in structural design and analysis.

Hi, I'm stuck on this homework.
I have to do this, it says

Below list other examples of products that are subject to the force in question and briefly explain how.

! Force ! Product ! Brief explanation!
tension
tension
compression
compression
shear
shear
torsion
torsion

Thats the table i have to fill inHelp?

I'm not going to do your homework for you but things in tension generally include any types of cables, compression will be columns/brick walls, shear force is a force at 90 degrees to the edge of a beam/bolt (90 degrees to the hypothetical normal force which would create tension or compression), and torsion refers to shafts/screws being twisted.

you will get more help when you have shown that you have actually made an attempt at this question.
