Explosion from mix or vibration

Click For Summary

Discussion Overview

The discussion centers around the potential for certain nitrogen-containing substances to react explosively when mixed or subjected to high vibration or shock. Participants explore both theoretical and practical aspects of chemical reactions involving nitrogen compounds.

Discussion Character

  • Exploratory
  • Debate/contested

Main Points Raised

  • Some participants inquire about specific substances that can explode when mixed with nitrogen or its compounds.
  • There is mention of compounds that are sensitive to friction or impact, with a suggestion to research impact-sensitive primers.
  • A participant references a video game scenario involving explosive substances, which raises questions about the relevance of such examples to serious scientific discussion.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants express differing views on the appropriateness of discussing examples from popular media in a scientific context, indicating a lack of consensus on the relevance of the initial inquiry.

Contextual Notes

The discussion includes references to specific compounds and their behaviors under certain conditions, but lacks detailed definitions or clarifications on the types of nitrogen compounds being discussed.

BTW, exist some substance that when is mixed with nitrogen, or with some compost of nitrogen, reacts and explodes? Also, exist some compost of nitrogen that when is submitted to high vibration or shock reacts and explodes?

Um, why do you ask?

Which the reason for investigation?

Sorry, the translation of that did not work very well. Why are you asking the question?

Plenty of compounds that will explode on friction or when hit. Some of the contain nitrogen. Google for impact sensitive primer.

Because I remenber from N64's Castlevania that there was a phase where was necessary you combine 2 differents substances, nitro-something and mandragora, and you couldn't even jump because the liquid explods and you die...

Are you serious, or just trolling?

PF is a serious place, we don't discuss here physics/math/chemistry as pictured in computer games/movies/popular media.
