Fourier series of square wave on Matlab?

In summary, the student is having trouble understanding the concept of fourier transforms and how to use them for non-periodic signals. He has found several resources on the internet but is still having trouble.

you don't believe me :D?
i try to draw this square wave function (-k W k ) on a paper
it is the same but +ve & -ve
but i have 3 problems:frown::frown:
1- i learned this just todaaay
2- the doc Need this homework tomorrow i don't know how i am not a superman
3- i don't know the code or how i draw it in MATLAB as Fourier expansion :cry:

What have you found with your Google searching about using MATLAB to do this? What have you found at the mathworks website? Do they have any tutorials that are similar to this problem?

1. What is a Fourier series?

A Fourier series is a mathematical representation of a periodic function as a sum of sinusoidal functions with different amplitudes and frequencies.

2. How is a Fourier series calculated in Matlab?

In Matlab, the "fft" function can be used to calculate the Fourier series of a given function. This function takes the discrete Fourier transform (DFT) of a signal and returns the complex amplitudes of the sinusoidal components.

3. What is the significance of a square wave in a Fourier series?

A square wave is a periodic function that can be represented as a sum of sinusoidal functions with different amplitudes and frequencies. It is often used as an example to demonstrate the concept of Fourier series because it has a simple and well-defined shape.

4. How do you plot a Fourier series of a square wave in Matlab?

To plot a Fourier series of a square wave in Matlab, the "fft" function can be used to calculate the complex amplitudes of the sinusoidal components, and the "ifft" function can be used to inverse transform the amplitudes back into the time domain. The resulting signal can then be plotted using the "plot" function.

5. What are some applications of Fourier series in real-world problems?

Fourier series have a wide range of applications in various fields such as signal processing, image and sound compression, data analysis, and solving differential equations. They are also used in physics, engineering, and other scientific fields to model and analyze periodic phenomena.
