SUMMARY

This discussion focuses on setting appropriate values for inlet and free stream temperatures in a Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulation using ANSYS Fluent. The user is clear about the inlet temperature but seeks clarification on how to determine the free stream temperature for a fluid flow case inside a tube with convective boundary conditions. Understanding the physical concepts behind these temperature settings is crucial for accurate simulation results.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of ANSYS Fluent 2023 and its boundary condition settings
  • Knowledge of fluid dynamics principles, particularly convective heat transfer
  • Familiarity with temperature measurement and its implications in CFD simulations
  • Basic skills in interpreting simulation results and adjusting parameters accordingly
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the role of free stream temperature in convective boundary conditions in ANSYS Fluent
  • Learn about the impact of inlet temperature on fluid flow simulations in CFD
  • Explore case studies involving temperature settings in tube flow simulations using ANSYS Fluent

I'm trying to solve the case of a fluid flow inside a tube using CFD fluent solver with convective bc for fluid side surface of the tube.
As the boundary conditions take both inlet and free stream temperatures along with velocity at the inlet, i am confused with values of to be given for inlet and free stream temperatures. i am clear with the value of inlet temperature. It will be very useful for me if anybody helps me in taking appropriate value for free stream temperature and physical concept behind it in the case said above
