Has AI ever made you laugh?

AI Thread Summary
The discussion centers around the average speed of a cannonball, highlighting the distinction between the speed of a cannonball fired from a cannon and the average speed in the Cannonball Run. Participants express amusement at the humorous and sometimes unreliable responses generated by AI, particularly ChatGPT. There is a critical perspective on AI's limitations, suggesting that it primarily relies on Boolean algebra and data mining, lacking the ability to understand context-sensitive language fully. The conversation also touches on the challenges of categorizing threads and the occasional humorous outputs from AI models, including instances where AI has used vulgar language while explaining concepts. Overall, the thread illustrates both the entertainment value and the current limitations of AI in understanding and generating human-like language.

I'm checkin out momentum at the moment so I asked Google AI the question, What is the average speed of a cannonball?

This was the answer;

The average speed of a cannonball depends on whether you're referring to the speed of a cannonball fired from a cannon or the average speed of a car in the Cannonball Run.

I found that ChatGPT can write good jokes.

I find that occasion AI produces laughable results. Not quite so much now that I'm using ChatGPT4

Thanks. Do you mean this is where this thread should be?
Not sure I know what you mean. I think this thread about AI is fine as it is. I just answered with an AI quotation I read elsewhere, but it surely made me laugh. The AI wasn't intentionally funny but turned out to be involuntarily funny. And it shows its lack of reliability at the current state.

Enjoy it while it lasts.

I think that AI cannot evolve beyond Boolean algebra and data mining. Language, however, is usually context-sensitive. A collection of words has a meaning that carries more information than the collection of their definitions. E.g: "NP = P or not is actually the question of whether there exist intrinsically difficult problems or whether we just weren't able to find them, yet." is a sentence an AI probably won't produce. It has a meaning carried by the word "we" that goes beyond its definition.

We'll see.

Ah, I just thought you meant the thread was a random thought and should be with the other random thoughts :)
I'm often putting stuff in the wrong place and being politely redirected :)

Yeah, AI has made me chuckle. I managed to get a Mistral AI model that ran on my laptop to explain what artificial intelligence is, while using vulgar language (f word, etc). It did a good job.
