I fill out receipt surveys a lot when there is a "big prize" ($1,000 usually...sometimes as low as $100 if I'm bored). Never won a drawing before.

Has anyone else?

Supposing one's primary reason for filling out these receipt surveys is to have a chance to win, is it mathematically just not worth one's time (most of them are super short and only take a few minutes)? See how I cleverly inserted a math/sci question into this discussion?

I don't fill out many, and I haven't won. Do the surveys have "fine print" which could give more information, like how often they draw prizes etc.?

I won concert tickets once. I kind of stacked the deck though because I took home about 100 blank entries, filled them all in and returned to the store to put them in the box. I really wanted to go to that concert. :oldtongue:

When I was a kid, I once won a drawing worth 5$ of merchandise at a toy store.
I also won a guitar signed by Mark Lindsay (Of Paul Revere and the Raiders). For a while, he owned a restaurant here in town and would have a weekly drawing for a guitar. My wife and I had gone there for Valentines Day and we filled out slips. A few days later I got a call telling me that I had won.

Never.
An old friend once though won the lottery of my country. The equivalent of $5 million USD.

I always found it funny how all of a sudden everyone wanted to be his friend :oldlaugh:. Whoever said money won't bring happiness. I prefer to be lonely in a Lexus than lonely in a bicycle.

Why, you are lucky.

Nah, it took about 5 years to show up on the winners board, there is a monthly drawing of everyone who subscribes.

I've won some gift certificates at a raffle for a charity. Nothing big.

I've won a few things, nothing worth more than a couple of hundred dollars. I know some people that seem to win something every time they enter something. For example the lottery, he'll at least win a free ticket or a dollar, something, it kills me.

I once, some years ago, won a fairly basic microwave oven in a raffle drawing. A thrift store I used to frequent had a promotion (for a short time... only a few months) wherin you would write your name and phone number on the back of your receipt and stick it in a box. Once a week, a receipt would be drawn out and some item that had been donated, but was still new/sealed in its box would be awarded.

To my utter surprise, I got a phone call out of the blue and was told I had won the microwave. I picked it up. They took my picture for a 'winners board' and the microwave oven did good service for several years in my office.

If you were to invest the maximum in UK premium bonds (which I think is around £10,000) you would probably win a £50 prize around twice a year in the monthly draw, and you can get your £10,000 back. There are higher value prizes as well.
