AI Thread Summary
When analyzing the possible outcomes of football matches, each match can result in a win, loss, or draw, leading to three potential outcomes per match. For three matches, the total outcomes are calculated as 3 multiplied by 3 factorial (3*3!), resulting in 18 possible outcomes. For four matches, the calculation is 4 multiplied by 4 factorial (4*4!), yielding 96 possible outcomes. This pattern suggests that for n matches, the total possible outcomes can be expressed as n multiplied by n factorial (n*n!). Understanding this formula helps in predicting match results effectively.

how many possible outcomes when 3 football matches are played keeping in mind that there could be a draw, win or loss?
And how many possible outcomes when 4 football matches are played keeping in mind that there could be a draw, win or loss.?

The possible outcomes is 3*3! . The answer of the second question is 4*4!.
In general, suppose the no. of matches is n ,then the possible outcomes would be n*n!

I was reading documentation about the soundness and completeness of logic formal systems. Consider the following $$\vdash_S \phi$$ where ##S## is the proof-system making part the formal system and ##\phi## is a wff (well formed formula) of the formal language. Note the blank on left of the turnstile symbol ##\vdash_S##, as far as I can tell it actually represents the empty set. So what does it mean ? I guess it actually means ##\phi## is a theorem of the formal system, i.e. there is a...
