Camera neutralizing technology could halt movie piracy and clandestine photography

Atlanta (June 17, 2006) — Researchers at the Georgia Institute of Technology have completed a prototype device that can block digital-camera function in a given area. Commercial versions of the technology could be used to stymie unwanted use of video or still cameras. [continued]

Also, regarding the recent conversations about text messaging and cheating on tests, there are cell phone neutralizers as well. They are or will soon be in theaters, restaurants, etc.

Sweet.

I know a few professors put cell-phone jammers in their lecture halls to just flat out stop the use of cell phones during lectures and tests.

This "technology" can be defeated with a new type of camera lens: 1) first lens projects image onto translucent screen; 2) second lens focuses screen image onto CCD. :-p
