SUMMARY

The discussion centers on analyzing harmonic data collected from a power analyzer at a university hospital in Jordan. The data includes all harmonic voltages and currents up to the 25th harmonic, as well as RMS data for currents, voltages, power, reactive power, and power factor. To reduce harmonics, two primary methods are identified: removing sources of harmonic distortion and implementing filters, specifically shunt or series types. A recommendation for further study is provided through a link to a resource on harmonic reduction methods.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of harmonic distortion and its effects on electrical systems
  • Familiarity with power analyzers and their data outputs
  • Knowledge of filtering techniques, specifically shunt and series filters
  • Basic principles of electrical engineering related to power quality
NEXT STEPS
  • Research harmonic distortion mitigation techniques in electrical systems
  • Explore the design and implementation of shunt and series filters
  • Study the impact of harmonics on power quality and equipment performance
  • Review case studies on harmonic analysis in healthcare facilities
USEFUL FOR

This discussion is beneficial for graduate students in electrical engineering, power quality analysts, and professionals involved in optimizing electrical systems in healthcare environments.

good afternoon

I am a graduate student in Jordan and i am working on my graduation project about harmonic studies in our university hospital and I've got data from power analyzer
-all harmonics voltages and currents until 25th harmonic (sampling every 1 min).
-all rms data currents ,voltages ,power, reactive power and power factor.

i want your help to guide me of what analysis i can do to decrease the harmonics in our hospital and what conclusion i can take from this data thank you and please reply ASAP

Regards

Your question is very broad. It is like asking a doctor, "How can I improve the health of patients?"

There are really only two ways to reduce harmonics: Remove the sources of harmonic distortion, or filter the harrmonics. Filters can be either shunt types that divert the harmonics to ground, or series types that impede the flow of harmonics.

But you need much more information than can be given in an Internet post. You need in-depth study. Here is one place to start.
