SUMMARY

This discussion centers on creating a do-it-yourself (DIY) version of flowable fill, referencing guidelines from the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association (NRMCA) and specifications from flowablefill.org. Participants express skepticism about the practicality of the provided recipes, suggesting that they may prioritize marketing over quality. The consensus indicates that a more effective approach would involve presenting a specific problem to elicit better solutions rather than relying on generic recipes.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of flowable fill materials and their applications
  • Familiarity with concrete mixing techniques
  • Knowledge of the specifications outlined in NRMCA guidelines
  • Basic problem-solving skills in construction contexts
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the NRMCA guidelines for flowable fill applications
  • Explore specific recipes for DIY flowable fill from credible sources
  • Investigate common problems encountered in flowable fill projects
  • Learn about alternative materials that can enhance flowable fill performance

That's an interesting term that I never heard of before.

Have you checked the references cited on that page you linked?

In this document here there are some recipes. My humble opinion is that this material is ~ the marketing manifestation of the will to sell the worst possible concrete (preferably with as much air instead of concrete as possible) you are able to mix up.

But maybe you would get more useful responses if you ask for a solution of a well described problem instead of a recipe from the cookbook 😉
