Please forgive me, I have no idea about this subject/topic at all. My job requires me to degrease metal components from time to time. I currently use Petroleum Ether in small quantities in a glass bowl to wash components with. I have had no side effects so far but after looking at the label again. I have doubts as to how safe it is. Could some one please let me know how bad this stuff is? There is not really any ventilation in the room and I don't usually wear any PPE.

Any help/ advice would be appreciated.
