SUMMARY

Creating a scale drawing of a hot air balloon with mints as passengers involves understanding the concept of scale and applying it to your drawing. A scale drawing is a proportional representation of an object, where dimensions are reduced to fit on paper. For instance, if the balloon's actual height is 30 inches, it should be represented as 30 lines on graph paper. Utilizing graph paper is recommended to maintain accuracy in the proportions of the drawing.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of scale drawings and proportions
  • Familiarity with graph paper for accurate representation
  • Basic knowledge of hot air balloon dimensions
  • Concept of weight distribution for mints as passengers
NEXT STEPS
  • Research techniques for creating accurate scale drawings
  • Explore the principles of weight distribution in hot air balloons
  • Learn about different types of graph paper and their uses
  • Investigate the physics of buoyancy and how it relates to hot air balloons
USEFUL FOR

This discussion is beneficial for students, educators, and hobbyists interested in art, physics, or engineering, particularly those working on projects involving scale models or balloon designs.

1.Hi, I need to create a scale drawing of a hot air balloon at which we are creating, it is odd because I don't know how big it's going to be and have no idea how to make a scale drawing, the balloon does not need a basket but will have mints attached to it (as passengers) to see if it can hold the weight and stay in the air for a certain amount of time. I just need some ideas or tips in this area.

A scale drawing is simply a drawing of the real object however it is reduced in size and put on paper. You can use parameters such as making every line on your paper equal to one inch even though realistically the space between a line on your paper is not an inch. I would use graph paper if making a sketch. For example if the balloon is a height of 30 inches then it will need to have a height of 30 lines on your paper.
