You can write it in a way so that one variable is dependent on the other:

ie)
[tex]y = \frac{-6 + 2x}{-2}[/tex]

or

[tex]x = \frac{-6+2y}{-2}[/tex]

So for the first one you have a function, [itex]f(x)[/itex] that for every [itex]f(x=value)[/itex] you have a solution.
