Discussion Overview

The discussion centers around the decision to audit a class in relativity taught by Dr. Wolfgang Rindler. Participants explore the implications of attending the class, share experiences with his work, and consider the potential impact on the classroom environment.

Discussion Character

  • Exploratory, Conceptual clarification, Debate/contested

Main Points Raised

  • One participant expresses a desire to audit a class by Dr. Rindler but is unsure about the appropriateness of doing so without prior experience with his work.
  • Another participant seeks clarification on whether the original poster is asking for advice about attending the course.
  • A third participant confirms their intention to attend the class and shares a positive experience with Dr. Rindler's book, suggesting it is beneficial for understanding relativity.
  • This participant also questions the concern about interrupting the class, suggesting that attending extra classes is typically encouraged.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants do not reach a consensus on the appropriateness of auditing the class, as some express support for attendance while others seek clarification on the original question.

Contextual Notes

There is a lack of clarity regarding the original poster's specific concerns about auditing the class, and the discussion does not resolve whether auditing is advisable or how it might affect the classroom dynamics.

I want to audit a class in relativity at my school. The relativity professor's name is Dr. Wolfgang Rindler. I am aware that he is writer of many books. However, I don't have a chance to get a hold with his work. Have anyone had any experience with his work? I don't want to interrupt classes by auditing.

I'm not sure whether I understand your question. Are you asking advice as to whether to attend a course on relativity by Professor Rindler?

Indeed. I will rewritte it.

Well, if I was in the situation, then yes, I would attend! I used his book "Relativity: special, general and cosmological" for my first course in relativity, and found it a very good book.

I don't see how you can interrupt the class by attending. I would have thought you would be encouraged to attend extra classes.
