Without immunity, any bacterium that's harmless to a healthy person could potentially kill the immuno-compromised individual.

If temporarily compromised, staying in a bubble could provide protection, but is not guaranteed. I believe most people who had leukemia or myeloma and had undergone treatments that compromised their immunities are required to stay in a sterile room until further notice.
