SUMMARY

This discussion centers on the possibility of deriving equivalent capacitance from S-parameters obtained through HFSS simulations. The user seeks to calculate capacitance for a circuit modeled in HFSS, while their professor suggests that Advanced Design System (ADS) may provide a method for this calculation. The conversation highlights the importance of analyzing frequency response to determine the feasibility of obtaining equivalent capacitance from the S-parameters.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of S-parameters in RF circuit analysis
  • Familiarity with HFSS simulation software
  • Knowledge of equivalent circuit modeling
  • Experience with Advanced Design System (ADS) for circuit analysis
NEXT STEPS
  • Research methods for calculating equivalent capacitance from S-parameters
  • Explore frequency response analysis techniques in circuit design
  • Learn how to use ADS for circuit parameter extraction
  • Investigate alternative methods for capacitance calculation in RF circuits
USEFUL FOR

Hi there,
first, I apologize for my poor English.

I made a simulation model and get results from HFSS

Model has a equivalent circuit like that.(1)
I run that model and get pair of solutions 'frequency vs response' like S parameter for each frequency.
So, with these results, is it possible to get (or calculate) a capacitance for whole circuit?(2)

My professor said, "Maybe you can get a capacitance from known values using ADS, but I can't not exactly say to you how to get a capacitance. but there may be another methods to do it."

regards

Look at the frequency response of the 5 parameter circuit. Does it look similat to a 1 parameter equivalent. If yes, you have your answer. If no, then it sounds not possible. Correct?
