Is the velocity formula √(2G∆x) legitimate for freefall?

hi i was wondering if this formula is legitimate. it finds velocity when there is no friction and no time involved.

$$\sqrt{2\ G \Delta\ x_{y}}$$ =V

G is 9.8m/s

It's legit. It gives you the speed after falling the given distance, starting from rest. (Use small g for the acceleration due to gravity; big G usually stands for the universal gravitational constant.)
