Is there any documentation of the ban point system

Why? Are you planning on getting banned?

I don't think there is anything in the INFO link at the top of the page, but in the past, there was some basic info in your Profile page about the rules for warnings and infractions. I think that info has not been carried forward through the multiple software versions.

[EDIT -- see post #5 below by @Nugatory for the Rules link]

Basically, warnings/infractions carry points, from 0-10. A warning is typically 0-points, and infractions have non-zero points. Points typically have associated expiration periods (like 6 months), so as long as you don't become a habitual abuser of the PF rules, you should do okay and have any infraction points expire (as long as you don't keep doing the same things wrong and violating the rules).

The intent is kind of like simple traffic tickets -- the intent is to educate you to remind you of the rules of the road (which are important), and if you build up enough tickets, remove your ability to drive/post.

8 unexpired infraction points earns a temporary 10-day ban from PF, and 10 unexpired infraction points gives a permanent ban.

In your case, the main issue is your inappropriate solicitations for publication help. Please avoid doing that in your future posts and you should be okay. Thanks.

However, this does not mean that if you do something bad and get a point for it, you can do it 9 times without a permanent ban. People have tried that. It does not end well.

Yes, it’s the “Moderating and Disciplinary Actions” section of the forum rules.

Explicitly: in the menu along the top of any (?) page, choose INFO, then Terms and Rules, and scroll down about halfway.

I see the OP has a line through his name now. Looks like he got his answer.

Yeah, they kept trying to post their personal math theory thoughts, and kept getting warnings/infractions for that. The latest re-post of the same thing had a title "Road to the permaban", so we decided it was time.

And it's also time to close this thread.
