SUMMARY

The discussion centers on the value of purchasing cloud services from local versus international providers. Participants highlight that while major companies like Google and Yahoo offer robust cloud services, local providers may offer benefits such as compliance with local regulations and potentially faster access due to geographic proximity. However, the consensus indicates that for most users, especially large businesses, the choice between local and international services may not significantly impact performance or functionality. Ultimately, the decision may hinge on specific business needs and economic considerations.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of cloud service models: IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS
  • Familiarity with cloud service providers like Google Cloud and AWS
  • Knowledge of data residency and compliance regulations
  • Basic concepts of network latency and its impact on performance
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the differences between IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS offerings
  • Explore the implications of data residency laws in your country
  • Investigate performance metrics related to cloud service latency
  • Compare local cloud service providers against international giants
USEFUL FOR

This discussion is beneficial for IT professionals, cloud architects, and business decision-makers evaluating cloud service options based on performance, compliance, and economic impact.

Since you're asking the question, there's probably no point for you. What do you even mean by "buying cloud services locally or internationally" ?

i'm researching for an assignment, give me a break haha.
i mean like, when you are paying to use a companies cloud services (I, P or S) You can go to big ones like yahoo and google and stuff but there are local companies selling cloud infrastructure within the same country... and smaller ones internationally too.
I was just wondering if there is any benefit eg having you files stored in the same country, or some software services provided by the same country. I can't think of any reason either way (locally or internationally), cept maybe to keep the economy going? idk. this is why i ask.

would it change the speed at all if it was stored in america? and you lived in china?
would it matter if the person using the cloud was a huge business? where is the best place to go for cloud services?
