Labeling Intersection in Venn Diagrams

SUMMARY

In Venn diagrams, it is standard practice to label the intersection section distinctly to enhance clarity. When two sets each contain 10 elements with 5 in the intersection, the recommended labeling is to indicate 5 in the intersection and 5 in each of the non-overlapping sections. This method provides a clearer visual representation, allowing viewers to easily distinguish between the elements that lie in the intersection and those that do not. Therefore, the diagram should display three distinct regions, each labeled appropriately with the respective counts.

just a clarification cause it's been so long
if you have intersection in a venn diagram, is it general practice to label the section including the intersecting diagrams.
say you have two sets of 10 with 5 things in the intersect. do you label it 10 in the 2 sets and 5 in the intersect. or. 5 in each section?

It is much more clarifying to split up the 10 in one set in "those 5 that lie in the intersection and those other 5 that does not lie in the intersection"

thus, the image will be of 3 5's, distributed on three regions.
