Discussion Overview

The discussion centers around finding learning resources for thermodynamics, including notes, video lectures, and textbooks. Participants express varying preferences and levels of understanding related to the subject.

Discussion Character

  • Homework-related
  • Exploratory

Main Points Raised

  • One participant requests learning sources for thermodynamics, seeking various types of materials.
  • Another participant asks for clarification on the type of learning sources needed, such as notes, video lectures, or ebooks, and specifies the level of study.
  • References to specific resources include MIT OpenCourseWare and CalTech notes on thermodynamics.
  • A participant mentions their current study level, focusing on the second law of thermodynamics and cycles like vapor, gas, and refrigeration, expressing difficulty with the concept of exergy.
  • One participant argues that proper books are essential for understanding thermodynamics, suggesting titles like "Thermodynamics - An Engineering Approach" by Y. Cengel and "Fundamentals of Engineering Thermodynamics" by Shapiro.
  • Another participant shares links to websites that contain information about thermodynamics lectures.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants do not reach a consensus on the best type of learning resource, with some advocating for textbooks while others suggest online courses and notes. The discussion remains unresolved regarding the most effective materials for learning thermodynamics.

Contextual Notes

Participants express varying levels of familiarity with thermodynamics, indicating that the discussion may depend on individual learning preferences and backgrounds.

learning source like notes?? video lectures?? ebooks? & what level?

Check out MIT open course website.

Also, CalTech has some notes on Thermodynamics. Did you mean the Teaching Company lectures on Thermodynamics?

Actually my level just until second law of thermodynamics, recently is learning lots of cycles such as vapor, gas n refrigeration. and the exergy. >.< Exergy is very diffucult TT
Anyway, i willing to learn about it i don't mind which source,as long as it is related to mechanical engineering, hehe

I doubt any notes or webpage can create an understanding in the student's mind. A proper book is the best way to go about it. Search your library for books on Engineering Thermodynamics.

some good books-
Thermodynamics -An Engineering Approach - Y Cengel
Fundamentals of Engineering Thermodynamics - Shapiro
