SUMMARY

The discussion centers on calculating the magnetic field using a Helmholtz apparatus, specifically employing the formula B = 0.7155NI/R. The user inputs N=130, I=1.82, and R=0.15m, resulting in a calculated magnetic field of 1128.6, which is deemed excessively high. The conversation highlights the importance of using SI units for accurate calculations, referencing the Wikipedia page on Helmholtz coils for clarification.

I am trying to calculate the magnetic field of an experiment with the apparatus but my values are way too high and i can't figure out what i am doing wrong

I am using the formula B = 0.7155NI/R

N= 130
I=1.82
R=15cm=.15m

calculating this i get 1128.6 which is too much of a value for the magnetic field, any help would be appreciated
