SUMMARY

The discussion centers on summer undergraduate research opportunities in Asia, specifically in China, Taiwan, Korea, and Japan, for students interested in math and physics, particularly in General Relativity and Differential Geometry. The user expresses a desire to return to Asia with financial support for research. A notable resource mentioned is the REU program at the University of Florida, which includes an orientation followed by research abroad in gravity studies.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of General Relativity and Differential Geometry
  • Familiarity with undergraduate research programs (REUs)
  • Knowledge of international research opportunities in STEM fields
  • Basic proficiency in navigating academic program websites
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the University of Florida REU program for details on application processes and requirements
  • Explore summer research opportunities in physics and mathematics in Taiwan, Korea, and Japan
  • Investigate funding options for international research experiences
  • Connect with faculty or advisors about potential research collaborations in Asia
USEFUL FOR

So last summer I went to Taiwan, Korea, an Japan (to teach english, visit family, and pure tourism respectively), and I really really liked it. I would love to go back with a good excuse (preferably with some sort of financial support). Does anyone know of, or know of a place to look for, summer undergraduate research opportunities in Asia (particularly China, Taiwan, Korea, or Japan)? Although generally speaking my math/physics interests are G.R./Differential Geometry, I would be interested in most things!

Thanks for your help!

Just in case people come across this thread in the future, I found this REU: http://www.phys.ufl.edu/ireu/schedule.html , which involves going to UoF for an orientation and then going off to some foreign country for gravity research.
