SUMMARY

The discussion centers on the need for presentation software that includes math and equation editor features, specifically for users without access to Microsoft PowerPoint. The user, Lebombo, explored the web version of PowerPoint via Outlook.com but found it lacking in these capabilities. A recommended alternative is OpenOffice, which offers a LaTeX interface for mathematical typesetting, making it suitable for creating presentations with complex equations.

PREREQUISITES
  • Familiarity with presentation software concepts
  • Basic understanding of LaTeX for mathematical typesetting
  • Knowledge of OpenOffice tools and features
  • Experience with web-based applications
NEXT STEPS
  • Explore OpenOffice Math for equation editing capabilities
  • Research LaTeX syntax for effective mathematical representation
  • Investigate other presentation software options with math features, such as LibreOffice Impress
  • Learn about integrating LaTeX into various presentation tools
USEFUL FOR

Hi,

I wanted to make a powerpoint-like presentation for myself, simply for self study. I figured I'd experiment with some of the animation features to see whether it would have a positive impact on my rate of study. However, I don't have Microsoft office (thus powerpoint) on my current laptop, so I tried the powerpoint skydrive edition within my outlook.com account. Unfortunately, it looks as though the math/equation editor features do not exist in the web version of powerpoint.

Are there any other presentation programs similar to powerpoint that do include math/equation editor features? I'd like to type and arrange equations directly within a powerpoint-like program.

Appreciated,
Lebombo
